01Scope
This policy applies to Heroic Battle on iOS and Android, on Windows through the Microsoft Store, and on Steam once it is released there, and to the Heroic Battle leaderboard on this website. Heroic Battle is published by YellowGames (Raimonds Rudmanis). Where something applies to only one version — advertisements and purchases on phones, achievements on Steam — that's called out explicitly.
It replaces the Heroic Battle privacy policy of November 1, 2025.
02Information we collect
2.1 — What stays on your device
The following is stored on your device:
- Your game in progress — so you can pause a game and finish it later. It never leaves the device.
- Your profile — games played and won against Probe and online, streaks, best times, bombs defused, achievements, your online ratings, the player name and country you chose, and the setups you designed. A copy is also kept online (§2.2).
- Your settings — sound, music and the other options in Settings.
- Your purchases — a record of which of the store items you own, so the game knows without asking the store each time.
- A technical log — a text file of what the game did and any errors it met, kept to help fix bugs. It leaves the device only if you choose to attach it to feedback (§2.7).
2.2 — Your online account
So that your progress survives a reinstall, and so there can be leaderboards and online ratings, the game signs in to PlayFab, a game service run by Microsoft, by itself when it starts. You never enter an email address or a password.
- How you are recognised — by an identifier made from your device’s own ID with a one-way hash, so the original ID is not sent. On Steam, by your Steam account instead. PlayFab gives the account a random player id.
- Your profile — the same profile as in §2.1, kept with the account. Your game in progress is not uploaded.
- Your player name and country — the name you type in Settings, which must not already be taken, and the country you pick from the list. Choose a name that isn’t your real one if you’d rather not be recognised.
- Leaderboard results — your rating and wins against each of Probe’s three strengths, and your online Elo ratings.
- Online results — for each finished online game, your opponent’s player id, whether you won, lost or drew, and the room code, so both ratings can be updated fairly.
- Technical information — the version of the game, and what PlayFab records about any request it receives, such as the IP address and the time.
What other people see. The leaderboards — in the game, and the top twenty against Probe on this website — show your player name, country flag, rating and number of wins. Nothing else about you is public.
2.3 — Online games
Online games are matched and connected through Unity Gaming Services. When the game starts it signs in to Unity anonymously, which gives your install a random Unity player id.
- Finding a game — when you look for an opponent, a lobby is listed with the rules you chose and your rating, so that players can be matched. It disappears once the search is over.
- Playing it — your moves pass between the two devices through Unity Relay.
- What your opponent receives — your player name, country, Elo rating and whether it is ranked, your PlayFab player id (used only to record the result), your setup as the game reveals it, your moves, and the emote icons you send. There is no free-text chat.
- On Steam — the game can show your friends that you are playing Heroic Battle, and lets you invite a friend through Steam, which passes them the room code.
2.4 — Gameplay analytics
To learn how the game is played, Heroic Battle sends anonymous events to Unity Analytics:
- What happened in a game — that a game started and in which mode (Probe, online or pass and play); and, when it ended, whether you won, how many moves it took and how many minutes.
- Unity’s standard events — when the game is opened and closed, device model, operating system and app version, and your country, worked out from your IP address.
- A random identifier — the Unity player id in §2.3, so that events from the same install can be counted together. It is not your name, email address or phone number.
These events are not used for advertising and are not combined with your advertising identifier by us.
2.5 — Advertising data (Android and iOS)
The free phone version shows an advertisement through Google AdMob before some games — never during one. AdMob may collect an advertising identifier — Android's Advertising ID, or iOS's IDFA where you've allowed tracking in the App Tracking Transparency prompt — your IP address (from which an approximate location is derived), and standard technical signals used to select, limit and measure advertisements. In the EEA, UK and Switzerland this is governed by the choice you make in Google's consent form on first launch. Advertisements are limited to content suitable for teens.
Some of these advertisements come from Unity Ads, which AdMob calls on to fill them (this is called mediation). When it does, Unity Ads receives the same kinds of data — advertising identifier, IP address, device information and how you interact with the advertisement — and the choice you made in the consent form is passed on to it.
Complete game removes every advertisement, not the advertising library. With it no advertisement is shown; the library still starts with the game and may prepare one in the background, and your consent choices keep applying. The Windows version contains no advertising at all.
2.6 — Purchases (Android and iOS)
The store items — Super Setups, Setup slots and Complete game — are bought through Google Play or the App Store. We never see your card number or billing address; the store handles checkout entirely by itself and tells the game only what you own, which the game checks against the store’s signed receipt. The purchasing library the game uses is made by Unity and may send Unity technical information about the device and the transaction. On Windows there is nothing to buy inside the game.
2.7 — Feedback and sharing
- Send feedback — the form in the game sends what you write, the kind of feedback (bug, idea or other), your player name, the contact address if you type one, and your device model and operating system to a private channel the developer reads on Discord. If you tick the box to include it, the technical log in §2.1 goes too. Nothing is sent unless you press send.
- Discord server — Join the Discord opens Discord’s own site or app, where Discord's privacy policy applies.
- Sharing — the share button takes a picture of the screen and hands it to your device's share sheet. Where it goes after that is up to you.
- E-mail — if you e-mail us, we receive your e-mail address and whatever you write.
We use feedback and e-mail only to answer you and to fix what you report, and delete them when they are no longer needed for that.
2.8 — Steam
The Steam version unlocks Steam achievements as you earn them, and signs in to PlayFab with your Steam account (§2.2). Steam therefore records, on your Steam account, which achievements you have and when you played — as it does for every Steam game. That data is held by Valve under Steam's privacy policy.
2.9 — This website
The leaderboard on the Heroic Battle page reads the top scores from PlayFab using a shared, read-only viewer account; it keeps that account’s session in your browser for the length of the visit, and nothing about you is sent or stored. The site's fonts are loaded from Google Fonts. The site sets no cookies of its own and carries no advertising or analytics.
2.10 — What we never collect
Apart from what you choose to type as a player name or send us in feedback or e-mail: your real name, home address, email address, phone number, contacts, photos, camera or microphone data, or GPS-level location.
03How we use it
- Keep your game, profile and settings on your device, and remember what you've bought.
- Keep your profile across reinstalls, run the leaderboards, and calculate online ratings.
- Match you with online opponents and connect your games.
- Understand how the game is played, and where Probe is too strong or too weak.
- Show and measure advertisements on phones, and show none once you've bought Complete game.
- Answer feedback, and diagnose crashes and technical problems.
We don't build a profile of you, and we don't use anything the game collects to train any AI model. Probe runs entirely on your device and learns nothing from your games.
04Third-party services
These services see part of the data above. None of them sees all of it, and none of them can see what the game keeps only on your device.
| Service | What it's for | What it can see |
|---|---|---|
| Microsoft PlayFab | Your account, cloud save, leaderboards and online ratings, on every version | The hashed device identifier (or your Steam account), your profile, player name, country, results and ratings, and technical information about each request |
| Unity Gaming Services (Authentication, Lobby, Relay) |
Finding and connecting online games, on every version | A random Unity player id, the rules and rating in your lobby, the game traffic between the two devices, and your IP address |
| Unity Analytics | Anonymous gameplay analytics, on every version | The events in §2.4, the Unity player id, and technical information about the device |
| Discord | Delivers feedback sent from the game | What you put in the feedback form (§2.7), and the log if you attach it |
| Google AdMob + Google User Messaging Platform |
Serves and measures advertisements; collects consent (phones only) | Advertising identifier, IP address and standard ad-serving technical data |
| Unity Ads | Serves some of the advertisements, when AdMob calls on it (phones only) | Advertising identifier, IP address, device information and ad interactions; your consent choice |

05Children's privacy
Heroic Battle isn't directed at children under 13 (or the relevant minimum age where you live), and we don't knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has given us anything beyond the anonymous data described above — a real name as a player name, say, or an e-mail address in feedback — contact us in §10 and we'll have it removed.
06Data retention
- Everything in §2.1 stays on your device until you remove the game or clear its data.
- Your online account, profile and leaderboard entries are kept by PlayFab for as long as the game is offered, so that your progress survives a reinstall, or until you ask us to delete them (§7).
- A lobby lasts only while you are looking for a game; Unity keeps its sign-in and analytics data for as long as its own retention policy specifies — we don't hold a separate copy.
- Feedback stays in the developer’s Discord channel until it has been dealt with, and is then deleted.
- Advertising identifiers are retained only as long as the policies of Google (AdMob and its consent form) and Unity (Unity Ads) specify — we don't hold a copy at all.
- Steam achievements stay on your Steam account under Valve's policies.
07Your rights & choices
- Choose how advertisements treat you. In the EEA, UK and Switzerland the consent form on first launch asks before any advertising data is used, and the Privacy options button in the game's About panel (the i on the main menu) brings it back whenever you want to change your answer. On iOS, the system's tracking prompt and the iOS Settings app do the same for the IDFA.
- Reset or switch off your advertising identifier in your device's own settings, on either platform.
- Remove the advertisements by purchasing Complete game. Restore purchases in the store brings your purchases back on a new device.
- Change what others see. You can change your player name and country in Settings at any time.
- Delete what is on your device by removing the game.
- Delete your online data. Write to rrudmanis@hotmail.com with your player name and the platform you play on, and we’ll delete your PlayFab account — profile, ratings and leaderboard entries — within 30 days. We may ask for a little more to be sure the account is yours. If you keep playing afterwards, the game starts a new account from scratch.
- Ask about the analytics data. It is tied to a random identifier rather than to you, so we may need your help to tell which records are yours. Write to the same address and we'll answer within 30 days.
- Regional rights. Depending on where you live, you may have rights under GDPR, UK GDPR, or US state laws such as the CCPA to access, correct, delete or receive a copy of your data, and to object to or restrict certain processing. We honor these on request regardless of where you live — §10.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising beyond the ad-serving by AdMob and Unity Ads described in §2.5.
08Data security
Everything the game and the services in §4 send is transmitted over encrypted connections and protected by their own security practices. Leaderboard results are checked and written by the server, not by the game, so they can't be set directly from a device. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we can't guarantee absolute security.
09Changes to this policy
If a change materially affects what is collected or how it is used, we'll update the effective date above and, where required, notify you in the game before it takes effect.
