01Scope

This policy applies to Jester’s Bid (sold as Jester’s Bid: Card Roguelite) on Android and iOS. Jester’s Bid is published by YellowGames (Raimonds Rudmanis). A PC version is planned; when it arrives, this policy will be updated to cover it before it goes on sale.

02Information we collect

2.1 — What stays on your device

The following is stored on your device:

  • Your run in progress — saved after every card so you can pick it up later. It never leaves the device.
  • Your profile — runs played and won by deck and stake, exact-bid rate and other statistics, the decks, stakes and jokers you’ve unlocked, achievements, card backs and table cloths, and your daily streak and results. A copy is also kept online (§2.2).
  • Your settings — text size, reduced motion, the four-colour deck, sound and music volumes.
  • A premium flag — a yes/no recording whether you own the premium unlock, so the game knows without asking the store each time.

When you copy a daily result, the game puts a short line of text on your clipboard. Where it goes after that is up to you.

2.2 — What is kept online

So that your progress survives a new phone and the daily run can have a leaderboard, the game signs in to Unity Gaming Services by itself, anonymously, when it starts. You never create an account, choose a name or enter a password.

  • A player id — a random identifier Unity creates for your install. It is not your name, email address or phone number.
  • Your profile, in Cloud Save — the same profile as in §2.1, stored under that id. When the game starts, it keeps whichever copy has more play in it, so a fresh install picks up where you left off. Your run in progress is not uploaded.
  • Your daily results, on the leaderboard — when you finish a daily run, how many tables you cleared and your points are posted to that day’s leaderboard under a random name Unity generates for the id. Other players see that name and result, and nothing else about you. Nothing is posted if you don’t play the daily.

2.3 — Gameplay analytics

To learn how the game is played and where it is too hard or too easy, Jester’s Bid sends anonymous events to GameAnalytics:

  • What happened in a run — that a run, a table or a daily started or ended and how far it got, with the deck, stake and tier; which boss was reached; each bid you made and whether it was exact; tricks you won; each hand’s chips, mult and how many jokers scored; and which jokers you bought. The cards in your hand are not sent.
  • What happened around it — that a rewarded video was watched, and that premium was bought, with the price and currency the store reported.
  • A random identifier created by the analytics library on your device, so that events from the same device can be counted together. It is not your name, email address or phone number, and not your player id.
  • Technical information — device model, operating system version, app version, your country (worked out from your IP address), session times, and error reports if the game fails.

These events are not used for advertising and are not combined with your advertising identifier by us. The tutorial sends none.

2.4 — Advertising data

The free version shows advertisements through Google AdMob: a short video when you choose to replay the last hand of a missed table or to reroll the shop for free, and one advertisement when a run ends — never during a hand. AdMob may collect an advertising identifier — Android’s Advertising ID, or iOS’s IDFA where you’ve granted App Tracking Transparency — your IP address (from which an approximate location is derived), and standard technical signals used to select, limit and measure advertisements. In the EEA, UK and Switzerland this is governed by the choice you make in Google’s consent form on first launch.

Some of these advertisements come from Unity Ads, which AdMob calls on to fill them (this is called mediation). When it does, Unity Ads receives the same kinds of data — advertising identifier, IP address, device information and how you interact with the advertisement — and the choice you made in the consent form is passed on to it.

Premium removes every advertisement, not the advertising library. With premium no advertisement is requested or shown, and the hand replay and free reroll come without a video; the library still starts with the game, and your consent choices keep applying.

2.5 — Purchases

The premium unlock is bought through Google Play or the App Store. We never see your card number or billing address; the store handles checkout entirely by itself and tells the game only that premium is owned. The purchasing library the game uses is made by Unity and may send Unity technical information about the device and the transaction.

2.6 — When you write to us

If you e-mail us, we receive your e-mail address and whatever you write. We use it only to answer you and to fix what you report, and delete it when it is no longer needed for that.

2.7 — What we never collect

Apart from what you choose to send us by e-mail: your real name, home address, email address, phone number, contacts, photos, camera or microphone data, or GPS-level location. There’s no chat and no free-text field anywhere in the game, and the leaderboard name is generated, not typed.

03How we use it

  • Keep your run, profile and settings, and remember that you own premium.
  • Keep your profile across devices, and run the daily leaderboard.
  • Understand how runs play — which rivals, bosses, decks and stakes are too hard, which jokers are too strong — and balance them.
  • Show and measure advertisements, and show none once you’ve bought premium.
  • Diagnose crashes and technical problems.

We don’t build a profile of you, and we don’t use anything the game collects to train any AI model. The rivals in the game learn only within a run, on your device, from the bids and cards they see at the table.

04Third-party services

These services see part of the data above. None of them sees all of it, and none of them can see what the game keeps only on your device.

05Children's privacy

Jester’s Bid isn’t directed at children under 13 (or the relevant minimum age where you live), and we don’t knowingly collect personal information from them. It has no real-money gambling: its chips and gold are points and run currency that exist only inside a run, and nothing is wagered. If you believe a child has given us anything beyond the anonymous data described above, contact us in §10 and we’ll have it removed.

06Data retention

  • Everything in §2.1 stays on your device until you remove the game or clear its data.
  • Your online profile is kept by Unity for as long as the game is offered, so that your progress survives a new install, or until you delete it (§7).
  • Each day’s leaderboard starts fresh at midnight UTC, and past days are not kept.
  • Analytics events are kept by GameAnalytics for as long as its own retention policy specifies — we don’t hold a separate copy.
  • Advertising identifiers are retained only as long as the policies of Google (AdMob and its consent form) and Unity (Unity Ads) specify — we don’t hold a copy at all.

07Your rights & choices

  • Choose how advertisements treat you. In the EEA, UK and Switzerland the consent form on first launch asks before any advertising data is used, and Settings → Privacy options brings it back whenever you want to change your answer. On iOS, the system’s tracking prompt and the iOS Settings app do the same for the IDFA.
  • Reset or switch off your advertising identifier in your device’s own settings, on either platform.
  • Remove the advertisements by purchasing the premium unlock. On iOS, Settings → Restore purchases brings it back on a new device; Google Play restores it by itself.
  • Delete what is on your device by removing the game.
  • Delete your data yourself. Settings → Delete my data (tap it twice) deletes your online profile and your anonymous account at once, and starts your progress on this device over. Your settings and premium stay. Leaderboard results under the deleted account disappear when the daily board resets at midnight UTC.
  • Or ask us to. If you no longer have the game, write to rrudmanis@hotmail.com and we’ll delete your online data within 30 days. Tell us your device and roughly when you started playing, and we may ask for a little more to find the right records.
  • Ask about the analytics data. It is tied to a random identifier rather than to you, so we may need your help to tell which records are yours. Write to the same address and we’ll answer within 30 days.
  • Regional rights. Depending on where you live, you may have rights under GDPR, UK GDPR, or US state laws such as the CCPA to access, correct, delete or receive a copy of your data, and to object to or restrict certain processing. We honor these on request regardless of where you live — §10.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising beyond the ad-serving by AdMob and Unity Ads described in §2.4.

08Data security

Everything the game and the services in §4 send is transmitted over encrypted connections and protected by those services’ own security practices. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we can’t guarantee absolute security.

09Changes to this policy

If a change materially affects what is collected or how it is used, we’ll update the effective date above and, where required, notify you in the game before it takes effect.
